- 5:30pm All Orchestra Students Meet in the Concert Hall for Start of Camp

About the Clinicians
- Georgia Ekonomou has been a String Educator/Conductor in Georgia for 38 years. Her teaching career began in the Fulton County Schools in Atlanta, Georgia. After teaching in the public schools for a number of years, she became the Director of Orchestras at the Lovett School in Atlanta. From 1990-2003, Ekonomou served as assistant conductor of the “Georgia Tech Orchestra”, “Emory Symphony Orchestra” and the “Georgia University Orchestra”.A violinist, she performs with the Atlanta Opera Orchestra, and has performed with the Woman’s Jazz Orchestra of Los Angeles, the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, the Emory Chamber Players and other ensembles in the Atlanta area. In 1991, she was awarded Lovett’s Woodward Award for excellence in teaching. She presently conducts the Atlanta Junior Chamber Orchestra, the preparatory orchestra of the Emory Symphony Youth Orchestra.
- Sara Payne graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans with a Bachelor’s in Music Education and is in her twentieth year as an Orchestra Director with Fulton County Schools. In the 2014-2015 school year, Mrs. Payne was awarded the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award from the National Society of High School Scholars. She has also been recognized by MIT as being especially influential in student development. Mrs. Payne maintains a private teaching studio of violin and viola students and is an active member of the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra.
- John Thayer is a graduate of Florida State University and is currently the Director of Orchestras at Sprayberry High School. Mr. Thayer studied violin with Beth Newdome and Corrine Stillwell, and remains active as an orchestral player. Prior to coming to Georgia, Mr. Thayer was an active performer with the Mobile Symphony, the Lancaster Festival Orchestra and the Tallahassee Symphony, where he was associate concertmaster.
