Its Time for Barrage 8!
Musician and Family Instructions
This is gonna be awesome! Please make sure you all have your tickets ready to present at the door. We will scan either a paper copy, or there was an option to have your ticket delivered by text or email to your phone, and we can scan right from there and save a tree. Tickets are still available, so bring family and friends – we sold 600 this past week, so don’t wait too long! :-)
All students: Print your ticket and turn it in to the director in class on Monday, as you will not enter from the front of the building. Rehearsal with the Barrage8 cast is 3:45-5:00 in the Lassiter Concert Hall. You have a dinner break until 6:30. Dress is “cool and snazzy”!
Please contact the orchestra directors at lassiterorchestras@gmail.com lassiterorchestras@gmail.com if you have any questions or financial issues preventing you from purchasing a ticket.
Help Needed: We may need some venue helpers and ticket-takers. Please email Ida Anderson and let her know if you can help the night of the show.
2016 Fundraising Concert
Once again we will couple our big fundraising evening with, of all things, a Free Concert!
Raffle: Your orchestra is asking all of us to purchase a $5 raffle ticket in advance to help your orchestra and to secure your entry to our concert. For persons who have purchased two raffle tickets in advance, we will provide early entry to the concert hall so that you can secure your favorite seat ahead of the crowd. Only100+/- seats are being reserved for this, so buy your raffle tickets and get there early to find your favorite seat! Look for specific details in next week’s newsletter on how to purchase your raffle tickets on-line.
Silent Auction: The silent auction will begin one hour before the playing of the first piece. Please plan to arrive early to make your bids on some fantastic items that were donated to our orchestra.
Walt Disney World Park Hopper Tickets
Pro Family Portrait Session w/HQ Print
Atlanta Hawks Autographed Basketball
Bruster’s Ice Cream Party
Tickets to the Atlanta Symphony
and so much more!
We are still accepting auction items! We know that many of our orchestra families might be a bit tentative to come forward, but really – whatever you have to offer will help our students and will be much appreciated my our community. We know we have great families and friends with much to offer, so please take a moment to give this some thought and email us with you donations to fundraising@lhsoa.org.
Col Graham Jones, Former Principal Conductor of Her Majesty the Queen’s Household Division of the British Army at Lassiter High School
On Wednesday, April 20, Colonel Graham Jones, Former Principal Conductor of Her Majesty the Queen’s Household Division of the British Army, will be visiting the Lassiter Orchestra and Band during his Georgia/ Alabama tour. Colonel Jones tours internationally as a conductor, adjudicator, and organizer of large-scale music events around the world. He will be rehearsing with the Lassiter Symphony Orchestra during 5th period at 12:35. At 2:30 Colonel Jones will present a lecture/ video presentation in the Lassiter Concert Hall about the Royal Family, Buckingham Palace celebrations/state dinners, and the general pomp and circumstance of Great Britain’s Royal Family. I’ve seen his lecture and it is fascinating, along with Colonel Jones’ wonderful and captivating personality! All parents are invited to “Drop in” on the rehearsal or lecture.
For more information on Colonel Jones, please visit Col Jones’ website. If you’ve ever wanted an insider’s view of the Royal Family, this is it!
We Want You!
While Mr. Mori and Ms. Doemel are sweating it out in rehearsals, there is a group of parent volunteers who love their orchestra – we know you want to be part of this exclusive group! We have some very talented parents of seniors who are rotating off both the Board and the slate of officers, but we are excited that we have some very eager parents of current students who have a bit of time and talent to lend. Whether you would like a named position, or you just want to help-out with clinics, fundraisers, and events, we have plenty to do to ensure our students get the best possible orchestra experience here at Lassiter High School.
A Few Key Immediate Needs:
Treasurer: Are you an accounting professional who knows Quick Books? Have you managed the treasury before in your student’s scout/dance/drama troupe? We are in need of a Treasurer! This is a key position on the Executive Board and our first priority to fill.
Fundraising Chair: Fall Orchestra Camp, Spring Orchestra Camp, End of Year Banquet, Varsity Letters, etc. etc., All of this takes real money! We need a Fundraising Officer to plan and make it all go. Please let this be you and send an email tofundraising@lhsoa.org to express interest.
Communications Officer: If everyone is in-the-know, then everyone knows! This is the coolest job in the orchestra (if I say so myself :-)). Working with all of our communications tools: CHARMS, Mail Chimp, Facebook, and coordinating with the Webmaster, making certain everyone is current on orchestra matters is a critical function. If you can communicate well, enjoy being creative, have computer literacy to learn these various applications (I assure you its easy because I do it!), and enjoy working with others, this is the job for you. And, to see someone take what we started and make it better would make Newsletter Guy a happy orchestra peep. Please reach out ot me directly at communications@lhsoa.org.
Important Meeting: The current Executive Board and officers will meet in the orchestra room onMonday, May 9th at 6:00 pm for 90 minutes. If you have an interest in becoming more involved by serving in a position, or just to lend a hand next year, please come check it out. We will schedule some mini-breakouts for more intimate chats on what we do for those who have specific interests. Besides, I hear there will be snacks!
