I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break and was able to relax and spend some quality time with family and friends. I was able to get away to camp for a few days, get a few house projects completed, and also cook a great Thanksgiving meal for my family.  It was definitely a much needed break for everyone!  Here are a few news items…
Poinsettia Pick up day is TOMORROW!

Our poinsettias are here!  Please come pick up your order tomorrow, Wednesday, December 4 is pick up day from 4-6 PM outside the concert hall.

Simply drive up to the right side of the concert hall, tell us your name, and students will load your order into your vehicle.

Please let me know if you are unable to pick up your flowers during our pick-up window so we can make other arrangements.

Winter Concert

We are just a little over a week away from our Winter Concert.  Please mark your calendars for next Thursday, December 12 at 7:00 PM in the Concert Hall.  We have a variety of standard repertoire and holiday favorites everyone will enjoy!

Other News…

Home Practice
It is imperative that students are practicing regularly at home in order to be prepared for rehearsals.  Remember — student's daily homework is to be prepared for rehearsals with NRB – NOTES, RHYTHMS, and BOWINGS.

Pass-off #1
All students performed for me individually a few weeks ago so that I could provide some personalized feedback to each student. This did take a few days of class, however I feel that this helped me address some technical issues that are difficult to assess in a classroom and also allowed me to see where we are in our preparations for our next performance.

Friendsgiving was awesome!
Our “Friendsgiving” potluck breakfast celebration before break was a great success.  It was great to see everyone enjoying each other’s company, relaxing, and celebrating our orchestra family together!

Mabry MS Visit
Today the Chamber Orchestra, along with band and chorus, performed at Mabry MS for all of the 7th and 8th grade students in an effort to retain musicians throughout the students MS and HS years.  The students did a terrific job!

The orchestra will head to Simpson MS this Friday to perform!

Moving to Microsoft Teams
We will be using Microsoft Teams next semester for assessments as the technology is far superior to CTLS for video submissions.  The Flip technology we relied on in previous years is now built into Teams.

Every student should download Microsoft Teams on their devices and log in with CCSD credentials.  Their orchestra class will already be loaded  to their account.

There is a practice assignment students can do to test it out.  So far, students have said how much simpler it is and that it works very well!  I’m excited to use this solid technology!

Concert Listening
Students should be listening to our concert repertoire.  Here is what will be on our Winter Concert.  Ask your child to play for you!
