 Hello parents and welcome back!Our main focus for the first part of the semester is our LGPE unit. LGPE stands for Large Group Performance Evaluation. Most of our students have performed in LGPE before. This assessment is essentially our standardized test and one of the biggest performances of the year. It is imperative that students are practicing regularly as to be fully prepared for rehearsal. So far this semester, I’ve been a bit disappointed with our overall students’ preparation. Your encouragement and reminders can really help! Pre-LGPE Camp – Saturday, January 20 Pre-LGPE CampOur first event is this coming Saturday, January 20 for our Pre-LGPE camp. This camp will be similar to our fall camp. We’ve got great clinicians set up and I’m hoping that this day will allow us to really step up our game and help us be even better prepared for LGPE. Students will be required to report at 9 AM and we will finish at 4 PM. Please see the attached schedule. Note that camp is a required event for all students. Students with any type of conflict should email me in advance. Charles.laux@cobbk12.org Some reminders for camp for students: Bring a sack lunch (Sorry, you can’t leave for lunch) Be prepared with instrument, bow, music, accessories (No phones in rehearsals!) Cello players should bring your home instrument Work toward excellence! Quality matters! Have fun and be respectful. Pre-LGPE Camp After Party LHSOA will be hosting an after party as well with a DJ Party in the orchestra room and games, cards, and such in the chorus room. Pizza and drinks will be served. An RSVP will go out this week for students so that LHSOA will know how much pizza and drinks to buy. There is no cost for this event. Volunteers needed for Camp & Camp After Party We are looking for parent volunteers to help with camp during the day and for the after party. Please use this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0A4AAAAB28A57-47231699-winter Pre-LGPE Concert – Tuesday, January 30 In order to get our nerves out and assess where we are, the orchestra will hold a Pre-LGPE concert on Tuesday, January 30 at 7:00 PM in the Concert Hall. This concert is free and open to the public! Come out and see what we are working on! LGPE @ Walton H.S. – Feb 7 & 8 LGPE Our LGPE performances are scheduled for either February 7 or February 8 at Walton High School. Some groups will perform during school hours, Sinfonia will perform after school. Please see the attached schedules. This is a required event and a major summative grade this semester. Chaperones needed for LGPE We need Chaperones to ride charter busses from Lassiter HS to Walton HS. We need one chaperone for every 12 students.
