  1. I think we sound very confident in this piece, and we are a lot more together than raging rapids, the last few measures also sounded really good

Measures 68-70 was weak from basses 🙁
Violas also need to play a little louder at 27, but maybe that’s just me

  2. Constructive:
    1. More decisive changes for notes during 61-70 for first and second violins
    2. Second violins play a little more out. Barely audible

    Positive:
    1. Beginning is really strong
    2. 11-27 has amazing balance between sections

  3. positive – dynamics and pitch are good m. 45-61, tremolo sounds great m 61-71

constructive – 1st violins need to all play 4th finger E in measures 1-8, include dynamics at m. 9, 1st violins need to refine shifting in m. 25, everyone except cellos needs to be quieter at m. 27-34, end of tremolo at 70 needs to be more together, fist violins shifting at 85-6 needs to be more in tune

  4. Constructive:
-beginning and ending need to be more “powerful”
-stomps and slaps need to be together and more consistent
-transition from 69-71 needs to be smoother

    Positive:
    -cello solo was good
-all sections were together most of the time

  5. The cellos and violins did very good during mesures 27-34. The balance was good in the slow section. The cellos might want to stomp a bit louder and more together during measures 71-85 and be more confident at measures 44-45. The violas need to be louder during most of the piece, specifically the beginning.

  6. Positive: The whole piece was really in tune and sounded great. I couldn’t think of spots that sounded out of tune. Also there was no rushing throughout the piece which made measures 27-33 sound perfect.
Constructive: We need to work on breathing and coming in to each measure for measures 53-61. It sounds all connected, I can’t hear much separation. Also the last measure, measure 98, doesn’t sound great. The last note is short and some people are playing it long. The ending should be perfected and together before the concert!

  7. Positive Comments:
We were fairly together throughout the entire thing.
Cellos slaps and stomps were together.
    Constructive Comments:
Basses need to work on their soli at 70.
    Some intonation problems from 43-70.

  8. Positive
    1) The piece begins and ends strong.
2)Cellos have a beautiful sound in Meares 27-35 and 45-71.
    Constructive
    1) In measure 5 violins could have better intonation.
    2) The slaps could be a bit more together in measures 11-25.

  9. * All parts sound coherent and blend well with confidence during the intro, the conversation between violin 1 and 2 sounds so pretty on the first page.
    * Violas need to look up and keep our pulse during the sixteenth notes of measures 27-28 and 31-32. Violas need to play out during at 61-end and watch fingerings closely to insure a good sound with the cellos, as well as play the Triplett with more weight so it is more pronounced.

  10. Cellos playing too loud in most spots
at measure 67, intonation from violins was iffy
70 and 71 the cellos were off
When violin 2s were heard, they sounded good
Violin 1 seemed a bit loud in some parts where they could have sounded better playing a little softer

  11. Positive: We did a good job of staying on beat and blending together. We also play it very confidently.
Constructive: We need to exaggerate the dynamics at 69-70. Violin 1 at 85-86 needs to keep the same pitch on the high note and not fade out.

  12. Same with the last one, we kept mostly together and on tempo. But though we could do better with staying in tune and staying in tune. 🙂

  13. Positive
-The beginning sounded so strong and good.
    -All sounds together pretty much.

    Constructive
-Violas need to be more confident and play louder 27-34.
-The smooth part of the piece 45-69 could probably get some more vibrato and be more smooth.

  14. Positive: We played great overall and the balance was great. Cellos sound great.
Constructive: Measure 71 was a little weak from the cellos. Measure 84 and 85, violin 1’s need to work on intonation.

  15. Positive:
-We were together especially in the end which was stronger, 87- end.
    -The dynamics were fine 👍
    Constructive:
-I can hear open strings from violins, measures 35-40, 52, 81, and 91-93
-There were moments that sounded weak from violins 73 to 86

  16. Positive- Overall, we played this piece well. I really liked the ending. We sounded strong and confident. The beginning was also moving and we were together along with being powerful.
Constructive Criticism- However, violins should have backed down some in measures 27-33 because it was the cellos’ melody. Cellos also need to stay together in the stomps and slaps in measures 11-26 and 71-86.

  17. Positive: Balance between the sections was good. The dynamics were well used and covered a large range.
Constructive: The cellos entrance in measure 1 could be stronger. The intonation in the violins in the first 10 measures could be better, as the harmonies clashed.

  18. positive: everyone is together and in tune for the most part especially in the beginning. cellos did great overall
negative: our soft section could sound more musically there are a lot of longer notes that we could do something with. violas need to work on the ending

  19. -1 was off because we didn’t come in together so it sounded bad
-71-85 some of the stomps were off in the cello part which made it sound messy.
-19-24 violins and violas were really in tune and the rhythms sounded beautiful
-27-33 was good on the cellos part the notes were clear and in tune and we used dynamics a lot in this section

  20. Positive:
1.) The first violins intro sounds loud and assertive like its supposed to be, from measures 1-9.
2.) We all stayed together during 27-34, especially first violins with the eighth note and sixteenth note rhythm.
    Constructive:
1.) We need to work on dynamics from measures 61-87, I feel like the violins are too loud for people to hear the cellos and violas.
2.) First violins need to make sure to shift right during the last two measures, that way the last note is in tune and we do not sound off pitch.

  21. Entrance on high E felt rough. Nice dynamics–piece felt strong. Violin 1 crescendos at 9 and 43 were really nice, though the latter could be a little more dramatic. Nice legato section at 45-60. Maybe more dramatic with those dynamics as well. 61 needs a quicker and more direct transition from forte to piano, but it did settle in nicely before having a good crescendo. Overall it sounds very strong, mostly very together, but should play with dynamics more.

  22. Positive: the cellos hitting their instrument sounds really cool, the first violins shift sounded good on measure 25

Criticism: 27-33 could be a little softer for those who don’t have the melody, measure 45 when the cellos have the melody they could play a little louder and the whole notes could play a little softer, the part that basses have to themselves at measure 70 they could play it a little louder so they can be heard better, shift for first violins at measure 84 can be more in tune

  23. Constructive:
1.) In measure 11-27 I think that the accents to the up bows should be more noticeable because they are hard to hear.
2.) In measure 67 for first violins the C was out of tune but was able to improve for the next measure.
    Positive:
1.) sections were together throughout all times.
2.) intonation throughout the whole piece was pretty good where there was little to none errors in each section.

  24. Positive: overall we sound much more confident and together. Very nice balance
Constructive: I feel like for the first violins, the high D in third position on the E string was a little out of tune causing it to clash with the other notes from the other sections. I also think that since we already know the notes and rhythms so well in measures 11-26 for first violins, that we could add more dynamics to it to make it sound more interesting.

  25. Positive feedback: overall we sound much more confident and together. Very nice balance
Constructive feedback: I feel like for the first violins, the high D in third position on the E string was a little out of tune causing it to clash with the other notes from the other sections. I also think that since we already know the notes and rhythms so well in measures 11-26 for first violins, that we could add more dynamics to it to make it sound more interesting.

  26. The tempo throughout out the whole piece is very good. We had a strong ending. All instruments sound confident.

The slaps and stomps the cellos do need to be more together. Also at measures 68-70 cellos need to be more in tune.

  27. Positive :
The tempo was very steady throughout and there didn’t seem to be much tearing overall.
Measures 11-27 with the triplets are sounding good for violins which makes it a very clean section in the piece for the higher notes.
    Constructive :
Measure 95 to the end needs to be worked on for second violin because it didn’t sound very together or clean.
There could be more added accents and dynamics in measure such as 45-61 to make it more expressive.

  28. General:
    – Ending was strong.
    – This piece was much more precise and together.
    Constructive:
    – 2nd violins need to work on rhythm at measure 94.
    – Violins need to be quieter dynamically at measures 27-34.

  29. *The beginning of this piece is very strong and confident. In measures 27-35 cellos sound beautiful and I like how you can clearly hear the melody.
*There are some areas where violins as a whole need better intonation for example measures (8,9,42).
*Also the tremolo in 61 through 70 we need to watch because when listening to the audio we don’t sound together.
*Violin 2 needs to work on 95 through the end.

  30. The piece starts off strong and together. You can hear all the instruments balanced. Starting in measure 71 cellos need to stomp/clap more together and little louder. Intonation in measures 45-55 are a little off.

  31. Positive: in the beginning we are all together and powerful. Also, measures 11-27 for the violas sounds really nice.
Constructive Criticism: The slow part starting at measure 45 needs to be beautified with vibrato. Violas need to work on counting at the end especially at measure 97.

  32. Positive- the piece sounds very good overall and you can tell we are much more confident in playing this piece
Constructive- we don’t have many dynamic changes especially measures 45-61 and we don’t do much phrasing especially in measures 11-27

  33. 68-70 basses need to be louder
Throughout the whole piece cellos need to slap louder

the starting 20 measures were very strong and together
Tremolo by violins with cellos was very moving
