GMEA Solo and Ensemble Performance Evaluation
Fee: $12 to LHSOA.
The GMEA Solo and Ensemble event will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Sprayberry High School. This is an optional opportunity for string players to form their own small groups of 2-6 people or to perform a solo before a judge.
Individual musicianship is most readily developed in these small groups. It is also a great way to introduce the students to chamber music. Students prepare pieces with a director’s help or that of a private instructor. Each solo or ensemble receives a rating and comments from the adjudicator.
- Solo performers MUST have a piano accompanist, if their solo requires accompaniment.
- Pieces should be from 2-5 minutes long.
- Suitable music is available at school or you may purchase your own.
Lassiter Solo & Ensemble Performances
Fee: $0.
The Lassiter String Academy is also offering a “free” Solo & Ensemble performance opportunity on November 12th at 7PM in the Lassiter Concert Hall. This performance will be open to the public. We will be recording the concert and will provide the student with a recording of their solo or ensemble.
Any students interested in performing need to sign up in the Lassiter Orchestra Room. We will provide an accompanist for this event.
