2018 Washington DC Spring tourIt was a great trip. The students were real troopers in the constant wind and cold. The highlight was a really moving Star Spangled Banner in front of the Jefferson Memorial. Chaperones were amazing; Head Chaperone Audrey Donahue’s and Trip Coordinator Aida Hutchison’s work on everything from hotel, jackets, meals, logistics, and care of students was without parallel. Mr. Mori’s attention to detail with the timing of the schedule was incomparable. What a fabulous Orchestra team. Thank you, Ms. Doemel for making all this happen through your leadership and giving the students a memorable experience. Night at the MoviesMark your calendars for our amazing evening of music and raffle prizes! Night at the Movies! Tuesday, April 24th at 7pm. Now, It is your TurnLetter from the President, LHSOA- From single event roles that require only a few hours, to committee and Board leadership roles that put you in the middle of all the action, there truly is something for everyone to do, and we really do need your help. Specifically, we are seeking folks for Fundraising Chair and Sponsorship Chair; and we also need to backfill for the key Board roles of VP Events, Co-Treasurer, Secretary, Lassiter String Academy Coordinator, and someone to cross-train for Communications Officer and Webmaster. Being a Board member has given me the opportunity to not only be a part of our orchestra and our school, but has given me a chance to be part of my son’s high school experience, and also make new friends of my own. I would love for every orchestra parent to experience what I have over the last few years, and my only regret was not getting involved sooner. If you have an interest in helping out next year, or would like to be nominated for a Board position, please email Audrey Donahue at vicepresident@lhsoa.org. Musically Yours, Jonathan Warner
