If for any reason you are no longer able to participate, let Dr. Laux know immediately so that an alternate can be notified. A no-show at rehearsal will cause you to be dropped from the concert and you will be ineligible to participate in Honor Orchestra next year.

GMEA District 12 Honor Orchestra Schedule

The rehearsals and concert will be located at Kennesaw Mountain High School 1898 Kennesaw Due West Rd, Kennesaw, GA 30152

The orchestra will be conducted by Tania Maxwell Clements, Strings Coordinator and Conductor of the Georgia State University Campus Orchestra.

The program includes the following selections:

Esmail – The Voyage
Nielsen – The Little Suite TBD

Friday November 8, 2024:
4:30 pm Check-In
5:00 – 6:30 pm Sectional Rehearsal
6:30 – 7:00 pm Snack Break (Bring your own snack) 7:00 – 8:30 pm Orchestra Rehearsal

Participation Fee

The participation fee is $35 and must be paid to LHSOA. Dr. Laux director will submit one check for all of our students.

Saturday November 9, 2024:

8:45 am Check-In
9:00 am – 12:00 pm Orchestra Rehearsal
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch (Bring Lunch or see form above) 1:00 – 3:30 pm Orchestra Rehearsal
3:30 – 3:50 pm Change into Concert Attire
3:55 pm – Be Seated for Tuning
4:00 pm Concert

Snack/Lunch Breaks

There will be a snack break on Friday evening and a lunch break on Saturday. If you will need a snack, please bring that for Friday. You may bring lunch on Saturday, or you may purchase food on site. Time will be limited, and you will not have time to leave campus. If you would like to buy pizza lunch on-site, please complete the Acceptance Form above.

Travel Time

Please plan accordingly for travel time. If you are late to rehearsal, you will be moved to the back of the section. Arriving on time for check-in guarantees you will have time to unpack, tune, and warm-up before the rehearsals start.

Concert Attire

Students must wear their formal orchestra uniform for the concert. Be dressed and seated by 3:55 pm for the concert to begin on time at 4:00 pm.

You must practice the music prior to the first rehearsal. Rehearsal time is limited and should be used to learn how the conductor wants to interpret the music.
