Help Needed for Lt. Col. Jones’ Marietta Visit
Lieutenant Colonel Graham Jones started his military career as a musician in the Royal Artillery Band, and held the prestigious position of Director of Music, Coldstream Guards – a position unequaled in British Army music. Col. Jones was eventually appointed Sr. Director of the Household Division serving the British Royal Family before retiring from the army in 2011 following 40 years of service. Graham Jones will be at Lassiter High School on Wednesday, April 20 to provide clinics and master classes to all of our orchestra members, followed by a presentation in our concert hall at 1:30 the same day. This program is funded by your Lassiter High School Orchestra Association; hey, that’s all of us!
Help Needed:
During the week of Graham’s visit we will be his host, and he will be visiting other East Cobb schools. We need between 2 – 3 flexible volunteers to escort Col. Jones between school visits in a private automobile. It is our understanding that he is a very friendly and funny chap, and will make very good company for anyone with an interest in things musical, Royal, and British.
Please contact Ida Anderson if you have an interest in helping-out that week, or being an escort for Col. Graham.
Don’t have your tix? Time is running out!!
April 18th, 7pm
Get ready to be blown away! The Lassiter High School Orchestra Association proudly presentsBarrage 8, a high energy electric string ensemble concert. The “8” in the name represents a re-imagining of the string octet: 5 violins, viola, cello and double bass. This instrumentation drives a rich and powerful sonic palette that further explores the musical diversity in the Barrage 8 compositions and arrangements. Purchase advance tickets here : LHSOA Barrage, Adults $15 and Students $10, plus a $1 service charge for processing.
This concert is also a fundraiser for your Lassiter High School Orchestra Association, so bring friends and family. We anticipate a large crowd, so buy early as only a couple hundred seats are being help for just Lassiter Orchestra families! The Barrage musicians will conduct a workshop for our students the afternoon of the show, and some of our students may perform, so they will all sit together in Orchestra Center – students will still need a ticket to enter. If anyone has a question regarding student tickets, please contact Ms. Doemel at lassiterorchestras@gmail.com.
Help Needed:
We may need some venue helpers and ticket-takers. Please email Ida Anderson and let her know if you can help the night of the show.
A Night at the Movies and Silent Auction, 4/26
One of our most fun concerts we do all year. Come hear your favorite movie music and see clips of those films on our big screen. Invite family and friends – this one is not to be missed!
Auction item donations and pledges are being accepted right now. So far we have several items on our list, but need many more for this to be successful. We know we have great families and friends with much to offer, so please take a moment to give this some thought and email us with you donations to fundraising@lhsoa.org.
